Departmental Updates

  • A new degree Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Concentration in Artificial Intelligence has been approved and will be offered by the department starting Fall 2024.

  • Please join us for the inaugural Richard N. Ball Scholarly Lectures that will take place in April and May, starting on April 26, 2pm in CMK 309. This is a lecture series for graduate student presenters in the middle portion of their graduate career. All speakers will receive a honorarium and a special award will be given to the top presenter.

  • The Groups, nilpotence and tensors II conference takes place at DU on 3/2/2024. The conference is organized by Mandi Schaeffer Fry and Petr Vojtechovsky.

  • Mandi Schaeffer Fry will deliver an invited address at the AMS Spring 2024 Western Sectional Meeting.

  • Congratulations to Andrew Linshaw on receiving the 2023 College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Outstanding Research Award.

  • Prof. Michael Kinyon was quoted in an Notices of the AMS article on machine-human interactions in mathematics.

  • Anh Le and Mandi Schaeffer Fry joined the department as Assistant Professors in Fall 2023.

  • Congratulations to Shashank Kanade on his promotion to tenured Associate Professor!

  • Professor Yin's First Year Seminar curriculum has been picked up as a training resource for the Collaborative Online International Learning institute.

  • We are happy to announce the Dr. Richard N. Ball Scholarly Lecture Award in Mathematics. The award honors emeritus professor Richard Ball and its purpose is to stimulate mathematical research among DU students. We thank Elephant Learning for their generous support.
