Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Denver, where quality teaching meets top notch research. Our faculty members enjoy engaging our students inside and outside the classroom. Our research programs include fascinating real-world-applications ranging from characterization of processes in the brain, measuring particles in the atmosphere, and synthesis of novel molecules.
Faculty and students benefit from collaborations including the molecular and cellular biophysics PhD program and the Knoebel Institute of Healthy Aging. Many of our undergraduates work on research projects in partnership with faculty members and graduate students. Our department is large enough to encompass exciting areas of modern chemistry, while small enough that faculty and students build strong mentoring relationships.
The undergraduates from our programs go on to health related careers, graduate program in chemistry, and biochemistry, and jobs in chemical and biomedical industry. Our graduate students often continue on to postdoctoral programs followed by careers in industry and government.
I encourage you to browse our website, and reach out to us if you are interested in learning more about our programs, our research or the people who contribute to our department's progress.
