Tau Protein Behavior

The Margittai group investigates the aggregation of Tau protein and its biological ramifications. The accumulation of Tau fibrils is a characteristic hallmark of more than 20 neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer disease, frontotemporal dementia and progressive supranuclear palsy. They rely on an imaging technique called electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, a technology in which our department labs excel. This research aims to answer questions that will aid the development of new strategies towards disease intervention.
