Access GIS Lab Computers

Open to students with access to Boettcher Center West with a DU ID, the GIS Labs house a broad spectrum of geospatial software and hardware. To enter Boettcher Center West and the Labs through door 125, tap your student ID card on the door access card reader. Upon arrival in a lab, you will need to log into a computer using your DU System credentials and PioneerWeb password, which should have been established upon enrollment with the University and first access to PioneerWeb.

Before arriving in-person on campus, check our GIS Labs Calendar for availability.

Remote Access

VMware Connection

We use VMware virtual desktop software for on-the-go remote access to our GIS lab environment. To use, install VMware Horizon Clients on your Windows, Mac, iOS, Linux, Chrome or Android device and log in using your DU System credentials.

Before you connect to a virtual desktop from off campus, you will need to download and install software—click here. Choose the appropriate version for your operating system.

Open the VMWare View Client, and connect to remotepc.du.edu. This connection works, both on and off campus, without the need to connect to the VPN. Some DU-specific applications (like iBanner), however, do require the VPN when used off campus.

Login using your DU email address (firstname.lastname@du.edu) and PioneerWeb password. Choose Desired Virtual Machine Pool (GIS) to connect to.
