Alumni Share Career Insights with Graduate Students

Graduate students exploring careers in academia and industry gained valuable insights this spring through a virtual alumni panel hosted by DU Biophysical Society student chapter. The event connected students from Molecular and Cellular Biophysics, Biological Sciences, and Chemistry with alumni who recently navigated the transition from graduate school to professional careers.

Organized by Braden Rue, a fifth-year PhD student and president of the chapter, the event featured alumni Chen Zhang, Brody Bills, and Michael Holden. Panelists discussed their career paths after DU, shared insights about job searching and professional life, and answered questions from students at various stages of their graduate programs.

Because many alumni now live outside Colorado, the virtual format created an accessible way for graduates to remain connected with current students. The chapter hopes to continue offering alumni-focused programming and explore additional opportunities for alumni to connect with students, share career experiences, and remain involved with the DU STEM community.
