We're proud of our remarkable group of students, faculty and staff. Each member of our team brings a unique background and perspective to the department, allowing us to create a diverse and collaborative academic environment. We are a group of fourteen faculty members, two staff and a varying number of students dedicated to serving the public good through accelerating discovery in physics and astronomy.
Welcome to the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Denver!

World-Class Faculty
Our professors work with a mission to provide quality access to physics coursework for all students. They are leaders in their field, delivering research and educational innovation to the DU campus and our extended community.
DU is home to an award-winning chapter of the national Society of Physics Students (SPS), a student-led group that meets regularly and organizes and sponsors local outreach events year all year long, including the popular Physics Night at Elitch Gardens.
College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
The Department of Physics and Astronomy is housed within DU's College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics along with the departments of biological sciences, chemistry and biochemistry, geography and the environment and mathematics. Driven by collective leadership, the natural sciences and mathematics faculty works together to ensure widespread delivery of student-centered teaching, mentorship programs and novel research.
