Mycofactocin Biosynthesis

The Latham Lab

The Latham group is interested in understanding the structure-function relationship of radical-S-adenosylmethionine proteins that are used to modify small peptides. Using traditional enzymology techniques paired with biophysical techniques, they gain a better understanding of the structural attributes within the protein that lead to its chemical function. Treatments that target and deactivate mycofactocin biosynthesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis have proven to lead to rapid virus cell death.
