As we move into the future, sustainability will be of paramount concern in nearly every professional field. The Department of Geography & the Environment offers both a major in Sustainability Science and a minor in Sustainability. Both programs will help you contribute to a healthier world, whether you find your career in engineering or education, marketing, or biology.

The Sustainability Science major provides students with a solid foundation in the natural sciences, exposure to interdisciplinary perspectives on the environment, equity (human/society), and economy, and instruction in research and applied skills necessary to compete in the ever-growing field of sustainability. The major is designed as both a stand-alone program, as well as offering the opportunity for students to double major, allowing them to follow a thematic interest such as economics, international studies, or ecology, but with the addition of a sustainability focus.
