Farmer-Led Agroecological Research for Biodiversity Conservation in Malawi (FARMS4Biodiversity)
This project is examining biodiversity conservation and improved food security under climate and land-use change in northern Malawi. It involves Malawian farmers and an interdisciplinary group of scholars from Canada, Germany, Norway, and the United States. DU’s specific involvement includes examining how micro-level social processes interact with macro-level forces to influence agroecological innovations and farming systems resilience. Fieldwork involves the use of surveys, focus groups, community discussions, Multi-Actor Platforms (MAP), and a content analysis of Malawian agricultural policy documents.
